GRANT WRITING AND
ADMINISTRATION: Experience
in numerous grant programs has led to extensive knowledge of a variety of
funding sources available
to local government.
In the Community Development Block Grant program alone,
Simmering-Cory has written and administered more than 300 projects,
including improvements to and construction of sanitary and storm sewers,
water systems, work activity centers, day care centers, and community facilities.
In addition, the company has been involved in a variety of
housing-related grant and loan programs.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
ASSISTANCE: Economic
development assistance includes providing local leaders with a working
knowledge and the practical application of development tools such as Tax
Increment Financing/Urban Renewal and Tax Abatement/Urban Revitalization, as
well as a variety of economic development grant and loan financing programs.
Development tools and financial packaging activities focus on
residential, as well as commercial and industrial development.
Clientele includes cities, counties, private industry, and local and
state-wide development organizations.
CITY AND COUNTY CODES:
Simmering-Cory’s sister company, Iowa Codification, Inc.,
offers cities and counties in Iowa a variety of services relating to the
codification of ordinances, including reviews of codes and ordinances,
ongoing supplement services, complete updates and recodification of existing
codes, sample ordinances and drafting assistance, and annual state
legislative summaries of new and amended state laws that impact on and may
require amendments to local codes.
These services may range from brief consultations to full-time ongoing assistance for large complex projects.

Tom has a Masters of Science in Town and Regional Planning from Iowa State University. |

Housing Program Administrator -- Principal responsibilities include administration of all housing programs. Melanie as worked with Federal/State funded housing programs for over 20 years and was Director of North Iowa Regional Housing Authority prior to coming to work with Simmering-Cory. |
